Alva Regional Airport (AVK). We welcome our customers and business

class customer service. Walk-ins are always welcome, but by calling

Alva Municipal Airport Museum
This historical museum provides a reflective glimpse into the past
with a section on the World War II prisoner of war camp formerly
located in Alva, along with other historical aspects of the town.
Cherokee Strip Museum
The museum boasts one of the best collections of pioneer exhibits
and Indian art and artifacts in the state. It features 40 rooms
displaying the history of Alva and the Cherokee Strip, such as an
old school room, drug store, kitchen, Indian room, Presidential
room, Army room and a POW camp.

Nescatunga Arts Festival
Artists and craftspeople come from a four-state region to the downtown
square to display and sell their handiwork. There also is entertainment
and specialty food stands. The Nescatunga Arts Festival is usually
held during the first week of June.
Northwestern Oklahoma State University Museum
The museum houses one of the top taxidermy bird collections in the
United States and also has natural history exhibits, fossils, and

Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series
Offers Alva and the surrounding communities an opportunity unique
to rural areas. Each year, six different musical and theatrical
productions visit Alva from October to April.
Annual Christmas Crafts Show
Allows people to get a jump start on their Christmas decorating
and gift ideas.

Alabaster Caverns State Park

The highlight of this unique 200-acre park is the 3/4-mile cavern
formed of alabaster, a form of gypsum, making it the largest natural
gypsum.

Great Salt Plains State Park
Great Salt Plains State Park is the only spot in the world where
crystal enthusiasts can dig for "hourglass selenite" crystals,
a rare and fragile form of selenite, a form of gypsum. Great Salt
Plains Lake covers 9,300 acres with 41 miles of shoreline and is
a shallow, salty lake -- about 1/3 to 1/2 as salty as the ocean.
A federal wildlife refuge sits adjacent to the park. Recreational
activities include digging for crystals from April to mid-October,
fishing, boating, camping, picnics, swimming, hiking and exploring.
There are RV, tent and equestrian campsites, cabins, picnic sites,
group shelters, swimming beach, playgrounds, boat ramps, fishing
dock, comfort stations with showers, and a community center building.

Park, and the scenic Glass Mountains are within driving distance.
Waynoka Historical Museum
Housed in the old Santa Fe depot, the museum is dedicated to Santa
