New IMS Software Leads to
Live Inventory
February 26, 2003
Plane Plastics will be implementing a new business software called
Integrated Manufacturing Solutions (IMS). The entire IMS system
was designed and developed by the Plane Plastics e-business team
in-house. The new software integrates all of Plane Plastics' manufacturing,
sales, shipping, inventory and business departments. IMS will allow
website users, as well as the sales office, to see if parts are
in stock. Customers will know if the parts they are ordering are
in stock or need to be produced.
Once an order is placed through the website or sales module, it
will immediately be viewable by inventory staff as an order to be
filled. If there are parts in the order that have to be produced,
the production floor will see the order instantaneously. The new
module will result in decreased lead time and less paperwork, eventually
leading to 24-hour processing of most orders. The IMS system is
just another way that Plane Plastics is working to better serve
our growing customer base.
The Plane Plastics website will be undergoing maintenance beginning
Friday, February 28 while the new updates and features of IMS are
added to the website. IMS is expected to be up and fully running
Saturday, March 1.
